Why We Do What We Do

There is no shortage of examples of how Progressive Democrats are ruining Spokane and the state of Washington (you probably already have some in mind after this years legislative session), but here is just one about ignoring the will of the people they represent:

You may remember that Spokane voted overwhelmingly (by an almost 3/1 margin) in November  2023 to take a more balanced approach to our (still) growing homeless problem. Proposition 1 represented an effort to bring a better balance between the rights of homeless and their fellow Spokanites.

While the Progressive Democrat leaders of the city of Spokane were slow to enforce Proposition 1, it was in this years Washington State Legislative session that the 3rd Legislative District’s Progressive Democrats tried to effectively overturn Proposition 1 entirely by not only supporting but co-sponsoring HB1380. This bill would have nullified Proposition 1, as the Washington Policy Center makes clear, as it “would allow homeless people to sue a city and collect taxpayer dollars”.

There was significant effort put in by those that did not want this to happen and as of now, it is not yet Washington law.  However, never underestimate the left’s persistence in representing the taker class versus the maker class.  While the above was going on, Spokane’s former City Council President (now an appointed judge by the previous Progressive Democrat Governor after losing his race to become the Mayor of Spokane) sued to stop Proposition 1 even before there was an opportunity to vote! After losing in lower court decisions, they recently succeeded in convincing the Washington State Supreme Court (also with a majority of it’s members selected by the previous Governor) to overturn Proposition 1.  There was still one more opportunity for the will of the people of Spokane to be honored, but this was defeated, once again, by the Progressive Democrats on Spokane’s City Council.

So, 18 months after the will of the people was made very clear in approving Proposition 1, the “Democratic” Party, using all their wiles and a bunch of the voters tax money and various institutions time, have finally killed it. We don’t think this helps the homeless or their fellow citizens.

There are many historical examples, both in America and the world, of the poor leadership and results when one party controls all the branches of the governmental process: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Unfortunately, we in the State of Washington are relearning this the hard way.

So, with the support of the Spokane County and State of Washington Republicans, the 3rd Legislative District Republican Committee was created to help those that would like to see things like the above come to an end in Spokane!

We do this by supporting our 3rd District Precinct Committees, led by our three excellent District Leaders.  Each precinct committee is always on the look out for energetic volunteers who are called to support each Precinct Committee and perhaps serve as their PCOs (Precinct Committee Officer).  We’re all just getting started providing ourselves and our tools to help elect the people that will help turn the 3rd District and Spokane around.  Stay tuned to this site, our social media, and please let us know if you can help with your time and expertise using this site’s easy to use forms to defend faith, family, & freedom!
